Los Angeles has long been one of the premier sports cities in America. With 16 NBA championships from the Lakers, six World Series championships from the Dodgers and, more recently, two Stanley Cups from the Kings. The titles also come with some of the greatest names in sports: Magic Johnson, Sandy Koufax and Jonathan Quick. These athletes are just a few on a long list of L.A. greats.

Thankfully, today with social media we are able to take a more in-depth look at these phenomenal athletes by knowing what they’re thinking and knowing what they’re doing. Here are three L.A. athletes you need to follow on Instagram.

Matt Kemp (@bmdc27) – The Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder has made quite an impact on the team and the city since he joined the lineup in 2006. Kemp is one of the most popular Dodgers of all time, and it shows on his Instagram with just over 332k followers. On his Instagram you can find pictures from him playing in his little league days to him paying homage to past Dodger players such as Jackie Robinson. Besides being known for his tremendous hitting power, he is also known for his sense of fashion and has been a major figure in the City of Angels.

Mike Trout (@miketrout) – Exploding onto the scene as a center fielder for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in 2011, he has made a huge impact on the baseball world – with multiple runs at being the league’s MVP in his short major league career. Although he comes from simple beginning in Vineland, N.J., the bright lights of Los Angeles haven’t seemed to bother him. Known as one of the most humble guys in the locker room, it shows on his Instagram feed where you can find pictures of his family and behind-the-scenes photos of him with his teammates.

Julius Randle (@juliusrandle30) – The newest addition to the Los Angeles Lakers. Randle was picked No. 7 overall in the 2014 NBA Draft, and the Lakers – as well as the rest of Los Angeles – hope he can be the one to turn things around. His current follower count is at 158k, but that will rise in the coming months as he gets into the groove of living in one of the greatest cities in the world.
