While the rest of the U.S. is slowly cooling down, Southern California is still going strong on having a long summer.

Nonetheless, beauty lovers everywhere can’t wait to explore certain beauty trends seen on the runways. Makeup artists transform Spring beauty trends and developed them for the new season, with the introduction of petal and berry stains to replace matte lips and a twist taken from the 1960s from the likes of Anna Sui and Emilio Pucci.

The “no makeup” dewy skinned look has dominated catwalks beauty for a long time, but there has been a shift to the more velvet looking asking prepped with foundation before being dusted with a liberal coat of powder to set the foundation. Skin is one of the most coveted assets that models care about. Designers like Isabel Marant, Chloe and Balmain all adapted this look for the runway.

One of my favorite looks we saw on the runway for this Winter is the futurist 1960s look. Designers like Anna Sui and Rag & Bone played up the winged eye liner look with a pop of silver rather than black or by placing a dotted bottom liner.

Petal – Stained Lips were a Spring and Summer trend we saw earlier this year. Christian Dior took this to the runway for Autumn/Winter. Lips appear stained rather than painted, either with color diffusing from the inside of the lips outwards as at Dior and Marni or with darker berry stains at Derek Lam and Prada. These stained lips have been around for quite sometime in other parts of the world, such as in Asia. But, thankfully, they have been a trend since Spring here in the U.S.

If you are less adventurous with your makeup, I would try the lip stains first. Target and neighborhood drugstores sell products that can help you achieve this look. CoverGirl makes a variety of lip stains as well as liquid eyeliners that will help you get the futuristic 1960s look.

Until Next Time, Stay Gorgeous.
