More Info About “Jazz Palabra”
Invented in 1963 by Juan José Gurrola, “Jazz Palabra” is an interdisciplinary work, made by an avant-garde artist effigy of Mexican culture. Considered by art historians as “one of the first performances in Mexico” in the early 60s. Jazz Palabra combines different kinds of music with edgy choreography and spoken word (written by Octavio Paz, E.E. Cummings, Jack Kerouac and Homero Aridjis). Rescued from sounds and cinematography of Gurrola, it is intended to re-try this experiment. A bit of the 60s — more than an archaeological reconstruction, it´s a file on scene.
