Transformers: Age of Extinction to Feature an Original Song by Imagine Dragons

For the newest installment of the Michael Bay’s Transformers franchise Transformers: Age of Extinction, the director has enlisted the help of Grammy award-winning band Imagine Dragons to contribute a song to the soundtrack. Check out the official announcement video after the jump with some details on how you can win a trip to the world premiere of the film in Hong Kong and watch the band perform “Battle Cry.”

After being invited to an early footage screening of the film, Imagine Dragons wrote the original song “Battle Cry,” which Bay later used in critical points in the film. The collaboration doesn’t end there. The band also had some creative input in the scoring process working closely with composers Steve Jablonsky and Hans Zimmer.

“We’re incredibly lucky that Dan, Wayne, Ben and Daniel were available to work with us,” said Bay. “I remember being drawn to the emotion of ’Demons’ and ’Radioactive’ the first time I heard those songs, and I knew I wanted that same energy and heart for this movie. They’ve created a really epic, otherworldly sound for ’Battle Cry.’”

Imagine Dragons will perform the track live at the film’s world premiere in Hong Kong on June 19th. Fans can tweet using #TransformersPremiere for a chance to win a trip for two to Hong Kong to attend the world premiere of the film and see Imagine Dragons.

Transformers: Age of Extinction is the fourth installment of Bay’s series based on the popular Hasbro toys. The film stars Mark Whalberg and Stanley Tucci, Li Bingbing , Kelsey Grammer, Sophia Myles, T. J. Miller, Nicola Peltz, Jack Reynor and Titus Welliver.

The films pick up after an epic battle that left a great city torn, but with the world saved. As humanity reassembles the pieces, a shadowy group reveals itself in an attempt to control the direction of history. Teaming up with a new cast of humans, Optimus Prime (voiced by Peter Cullen) and the Autobots rise to meet their most fearsome challenge yet. They are swept up in an incredible adventure. A war of good and evil that ultimately leads up to a climactic battle across the world.

Transformers: Age of Extinction opens in theaters on June 27.
