The Wailers celebrate their 30th anniversary of their iconic album Legend with one of the best shows in Southern California. This iconic group is coming to Los Angeles and the Saban Theatre on Thursday, July 17. Songs from the album range from “Is This Love” and “No Woman No Cry” to “Buffalo Solider,” “I Shot the Sheriff” and “One Love” among many others.
Formed in the 1960s, the original Bob Marley & the Wailers band created an extraordinary body of work, and their music can be heard in every corner of the world today. Founding members included Bob Marley and his vocal partners Bunny Wailer, as well as Peter Tosh, alongside the ground-breaking rhythm section of the Barrett brothers, Carlton on drums and Aston “Family Man” on bass. After the death of Marley in 1981, the remaining members formed the Wailers.
This iconic reggae band is currently touring the United States, performing their prominent album in its entirety. As it helped the Wailers bring reggae music to the world outside of Jamaica, its birthplace, Legend was named the “Best Album of the 20th Century” by Time Magazine and was No. 46 on Rolling Stone Magazine‘s 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. Legend is also the best-selling reggae album of all time, with over 30 million copies sold worldwide.
Reggae music has never stopped evolving, but for millions of people from around the world it’s still defined by the songs of Bob Marley & the Wailers. Albums like Legend have provided their heartbeat rhythms that have inspired so much of what has followed since, as evidenced by the enduring popularity of the “one-drop” reggae sound.
