Summer is here and so is the California heat. To most people this means beach days, Fourth of July celebrations and vacation with family, but for me it means one thing: melting makeup. This is the most irritating thing to makeup girls around the Southland. So, from waterproof mascara for hitting the beach to mattifying powder to reduce shine, I came up with a list that will keep your skin looking perfectly fresh and polished all summer long.

Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Waterproof Concealer – This eco-friendly brand has thought of everything. Tarte makes this virtually impossible waterproof concealer a reality. Yes, ladies, you can wear this over a BB cream and look like a million bucks this summer.

Urban Decay De-Slick Mattifying Powder – This is a translucent mattifying powder that instantly gives you a fresh face. It also works great if you have oily skin. A little goes a long way, and it won’t give you that white face-look that most translucent powders cause.

Lancome Aquatique Waterproof Eyecolour Base – This product is crucial and imperative to eye application. It is probably the best eye shadow base I’ve tried. Have you ever seen women with eye shadow that creases? Yup, this product prevents that and helps shadow stay in place all day long.

Cargo Water Resistant Blush – This is groundbreaking. Its long-lasting formula is sweat, heat and tear proof. Plus, it’s also packed with subtle light diffusing minerals that give skin an effortless glow.

L’Oreal Paris Colour Caresse Wet Shine Stain – According to L’Oreal Paris, these new lip products combine the power of a lip stain with lip-gloss luster that delivers lasting color with a glossy finish. This is not one of those heavy, candy-like glosses that gets everywhere. I highly recommend this if you want a little color that’s long lasting and somewhat glossy.

Dior Diorshow Iconic Extreme Waterproof Mascara – OK, so there are tons and tons of mascara tubes at the local drugstore that are waterproof right? But none of them are like this. Most waterproof mascara formulas are hard to layer and leave lashes brittle. This Dior mascara has lots of conditioning agents that help with the “stiff lash” look. The tiered brush allows you to comb through the lashes to prevent unwanted and unattractive spider eyes.

The most important thing to remember this summer is sunscreen. Wear SPF 30 or higher to protect your face and body from harmful UV rays. Most foundations are now made with SPF, but just in case, read the label before you purchase. Happy Summer, ladies.
