It's never too early to start preparing for Oct. 31; ScareLA's workshops include master classes in makeup. (Magic Box The Reef)
If the weather is any indication that Los Angeles will be a different season depending on how it feels, then we should also reserve the right to live any season we feel like. So, if it’s gonna rain, be gloomy one day and hot the next, why not some Halloween in summer then?
Keeping it spooky, are the folks over at ScareLA, the all things horror/Halloween convention for enthusiasts and creators. In its second year, the event returns to the LA Mart in Downtown this weekend to ring in the fall season for the county’s local haunt world. On hand to make announcements and talk about what we can expect will be the creators behind fantastic attractions like Universal Studios’ Halloween Horror Nights, Knott’s Scary Farm, Queen Mary’s Dark Harbor and the crazy interactive play “Haunted: Delusion,” which will be returning this year (They are also holding auditions for this year’s production at the con.).
Panels and workshops include master classes in makeup and how to design your own haunted house for Halloween by leading creatives in the field. Art, merchandise, props school and horror supplies are set to line the floor from frightfully fun companies like Skullastic and Mystic Crypt. And if you feel like doing the mash, the event is also hosting a Saturday Night Ghostly Gala produced by the people behind the Official Sinister Pointe Haunted Attraction.
Tickets are available online starting at $25-$30 bucks a day or $46 both days for General Admission. Other tiers of tickets such as Fear Freak, Scare Student and VIP Monster include special perks for the classes/workshops, priority seating and collectible certificates (with additional fees).
Stay cool and scary my friends.
