Enjoy a bowl of Sweet Corn & Razor Clam in Sawyer’s beautiful patio area. (Ryan Tanaka)
While Silver Lake has its fair share of restaurants offering local, seasonal fare, when it comes to seafood, choices are pretty scant. Sure, there’s Knuckle and Claw, L&E or El Siete Mares, but when you’re needing something a bit more hearty, Sawyer is really your best option. The brand new establishment from Beau Laughlin, Brett Cranston and Jay Milliken opens today, promising a seafood-focused seasonal California menu from Executive Chef Alex McWilliams.
Dishes include a Salt Cod Brandade, a Soft-shell Crab Sandwich, Sweet Corn & Razor Clam Chowder and Smoked Trout with Sprouted Wheat Berries. Sawyer begins brunch service on the weekends, beginning June 4, offering Ling Cod Tacos, Chocolate Croissant Custard Toast and Sunny Side Hash of duck confit and root vegetables.
The space includes a beautiful outdoor patio, resembling a garden straight out of Architectural Digest. Next door, the trio of partners are opening the second location of organic cold-press juice bar Clover tomorrow (May 26). After grabbing a bite at Sawyer, stock up on juices for the week at Clover.
