Oysters after the shucking contest at Off the Hook Seafood Festival
October is National Seafood Month, and Santa Monica kicks off the celebration this Saturday, Oct. 1, with the second-annual Off the Hook Seafood Festival on Santa Monica Pier. From 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. some of the city’s best restaurants present dishes featuring their favorite underwater ingredients.
Participants include Herringbone, BOA, Sushi Roku, the Lobster, Del Frisco’s Grille, Yamashiro Hollywood, the Albright, Bubba Gump, 1212 Santa Monica, O+O Sicilian Kitchen & Bar, Spinfish Poke, Salt & Straw and more. Local bands Brightside and Black Crystal Wolf Kids are set to take the stage, while an interactive photo booth, oyster shucking competition, games and other activities also vie for your attention.
The $60 general admission ticket includes food tastings and drinks from the Shock Top beer garden, while the $90 advance VIP price grants access to the Santa Monica Seafood Sustainable VIP Lounge with reserved seating, curated cocktails and specialty dishes from Maré, Ashland Hill, Red O and FIG. A portion of proceeds benefits Westside Food Bank.
