Ronnie Fieg recently collaborated with Puma for the creation of the “Achromatic” Pack, consisting of two pairs of shoes that contrast one another. Ronnie Fieg x Puma XT-2 is as brilliant, authentic and pure as it gets. This shoe is one of my favorite Fieg collaborations to date simply because the word “simplicity” is molded into its attention to detail.
One shoe is put together with a black upper and contrasted by a white mid-sole. The second pair stitches together a white upper with a white mid-sole that allows the shoes to express its delicacy towards art and fashion.
For this shoe, Fieg pushed away from a name and instead “wanted to develop a product that could solely be appreciated for its premium quality.” The attention to detail that was placed into this shoe is incredible. It is put together by an array of fabrics and at the same time excludes any type of branding that would draw attention away from the concept of the shoe.
The shoe’s upper stitches together a mask of opulent Italian glove leather, and your foot rests on a bed made of pig leather that has a suede like feel to it. That’s not all, the inside of the tongue is a made up of a quilted-leather padding that brings richness down to your toes. This sneaker also comes with two different types of shoelaces (one round, one flat pressed) that come with a custom-leather bag. The shoe itself comes in a larger-scale custom-pigskin dust bag that’s dropped inside of a custom-made shoebox.
Before selling out, this shoe retailed at the fair price of $180 through KithNYC.com, a price that to me was unbelievably low in comparison to designer sneakers that use a similar quality leather and less attention to detail.
