Legendary Mexican artist Yuri continues to impress, as was the case at her Aug. 8 performance at the Forum in Inglewood. The night was a retrospect of her long and illustrious career. Looking just as radiant and beautiful as ever, with the same sweet voice, Yuri continues to delight audiences with elegant and dynamic onstage performances truly reflective of her dedication to her craft.

The show started right around 8:30 p.m., with a giant screen in the background playing some of Yuri’s classic videos and soundbites spanning her entire career. The clips proved to be especially useful during her wardrobe changes, which came about every two or three songs.

Yuri opened her set with “Este Amor Ya No Se Toca,” followed by “Dame un Beso” and “Es Ella Mas Que Yo,” which ignited the crowd. The show covered her greatest hits from her nearly 40-year artistic career, and included classics such as “Amor Mio Dejala,” “Cuando Baja La Marea,” “Amiga Mia” and her most popular song, “Maldita Primavera.”

Yuri maintained admirable interaction with her fans throughout her performance, humbly sharing anecdotes and engaging the crowd in dialogue. Yuri is characterized by her candor in both her speaking and singing, touching on themes from religion to social and political commentary, always with her unique sense of humor. She also took some selfies with the crowd.

Yuri is currently promoting her new album titled Invencible and sang the first single of the same name. The album includes duets and collaborations with artists such as Yandel, Jesse & Joy and Reik among others. Yuri closed her set with “El Triste,” a song by Jose Jose, and “El Apagón.”
