Last April The Distillers announced a very small reunion tour that took place at the end of April. The shows sold out as expected with only a few dates scheduled. Luckily The Distillers booked another tour shortly after that paired up with the release of two new songs “Man Vs. Magnet” and “Blood In Gutters”.

We got the opportunity to attend their Hollywood show at The Hollywood Palladium Saturday September 14th. This show, like all the others, was overly sold out. The parking lot was filled to the brim with tailgaters. With an all female line up featuring LA Witch and Starcrawler, we knew we were in for a treat.

LA Witch took the stage promptly at 8 p.m. LA Witch are local legends in the Los Angeles Rock N’ Roll scene. All though I have only seen them play bars around the city, the big stage seemed very fitting for the trio.

The turn over between bands was short lasting. Their wasn’t even enough time to wait in the merch line between bands playing, let alone grab a round of drinks and use the rest room. Up next was Starcrawler. Starcrawler has made quite a name for themselves as of recently. Gerard Way of My Chemical Romance was even quoted saying “Losing my GD mind over this band Starcrawler.” On his personal Instagram account.

The band is becoming so legendary that it was only fitting that they were introduced by another local legend, Danny Trejo. Danny Trejo took the stage wearing a Starcrawler t-shirt shouting “are you ready to rock!”. It was quick but to the point. Singer Arrow De Wilde took to the stage looking like she crawled out of her own grave. The energy went from a hypnotic trance to a high energy head bounce.

The room was drunk and full of energy by the time The Distillers took the stage. Young rock n’ roll parents putting protective headsets on their kids. It was finally time, The Distillers in the city of angels. They started off with “I Am a Revenant” into “Oh Serena”. Surprisingly they only played one of the new songs during this set of hits. The song was “Man Vs. Magnet” and didn’t come till the end of the set at the 13th song. They closed out with their two most listened to songs “Beat Your Heart Out” and “City Of Angels” which was only fitting for the city they were in.

They didn’t leave fans empty handed. Singer Brody Dalle and the band came out with a two song encore consisting of “Drain The Blood” and “The Young Crazed Peeling”.
