SLS Nike SB World Tour brings the competition to Los Angeles.
This weekend the Street League Skateboarding Nike SB World Tour is turning up the heat in the heart of Los Angeles as it makes its way into the Galen Center bringing along the biggest names in skateboarding.
Founded in 2010, Street League Skateboarding (SLS) has certainly made a name for itself, and it continues to expand by reaching out to skaters in every corner of the world. Originally “created to foster growth, popularity and acceptance of street skateboarding worldwide,” SLS has done so by giving professionals worldwide the opportunity to demonstrate their talents while competing “for the largest prize purse in skate history – more than $1 million dollars.”
Expect total chaos inside the Galen Center this weekend – and I’m not talking Trojan basketball – as this is the second stop and final chance for the competitors to claim their ticket into the SLS Super Crown World Championship in New Jersey on Aug. 24. Only the eight best skaters advance into the finals, so these talented individuals will have to battle it out and risk it all for the chance to write their name in the history books, hoist the trophy and claim that cash prize.
No one is safe, only a fraction of a point separates the leader Nyjah Huston from the Brazilian Luan Oliveira. And don’t count out the L.A. native, Paul Rodriguez, who has been gaining momentum throughout the course of this season. P-Rod is expected to tear up the course in front of his hometown.
This is a must-see event, so don’t miss your chance, Los Angeles. Buy your tickets at streetleague.com or tune into Fox Sports 1 on July 27 at 5 p.m. and prepare to have your mind blown.
