Lila Downs returns to the Greek Theatre for one night only on Friday, Aug. 22 following the success of her Grammy Award-winning album Pecados y Milagros (Sins and Miracles) and for the U.S. launch of her collaborative release Raíz on Sony Music Entertainment. Grammy and Latin Grammy-nominated quintet, Kinky will open the show.
Enigmatic songstress Lila Downs knows no boundaries between life and art. Her music is the culmination of a journey intricately tied to her sense of purpose as a human being and an artist. This new release builds on her already fervent world musicfan base around the world, collaborating on the recording with Argentinian folk icon Soledad and Spanish flamenco star Niña Pastori.
Downs, winner of two Latin Grammys and a Grammy, can boast a rapidly-growing pop audience south of the border – the Pecados y Milagros CD surpassed double Platinum status in Mexico, with two hit singles and sold-out concerts at Mexico City’s 10,000-seat Auditorio Nacional.
In her Aug. 22 appearance at the Greek Theatre, Downs will be performing songs from Raíz, Pecados y Milagros, as well as new songs from her forthcoming 2015 release, Balas y Chocolate (Bullets and Chocolate), and of course fan favorites from her extensive repertoire.
