Moving away from the troubles of the NBA season, the Lakers have decided to partner with Big Brothers Big Sisters’ Little Big Shot Tournament in Los Angeles.
“Little Big Shot offers our Big Brothers Big Sisters agencies a great community event aimed at raising program funds and awareness of our mission of providing mentors for children facing adversity,” said Charles Pierson, President and CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, on a prepared statement.
The Lakers will host the tournament during their game against the Sacramento Kings game on Friday. Festivities will kick-off during half-time as the “Bigs” and “Littles” take the floor to participate in a three-point shot.
“Having our kick –off event co-hosted by them at the STAPLES Center gives our program huge visibility, and we look forward to growing the tournament into a major fund raiser for Los Angeles Big Brothers Big Sisters,” said Ken Martinet, President & CEO of Catholic Big Brothers Big Sisters of Los Angeles.
The Lakers will join Jack-In-The-Box in the partnership.
“Jack in the Box has long been a national supporter of Big Brothers Big Sisters, and the Little Big Shot tournament offers us an opportunity to deepen that partnership and expand the relationship on a local level,” said Martinet.
The Little Big shot is a competition basketball shootout that raises funds for Big Brothers Big Sisters in five U.S. cities. The main tournament will take place in LA on April 6th at Lafayette Multipurpose Community Center.
