The Galaxy have traded all four of their natural draft picks in the SuperDraft, including their first round selection, which was sent to the Columbus Crew yesterday along with Hector Jimenez in exchange for allocation money and the Crew’s second round pick in the SuperDraft.
In June 2013, LA traded their second round pick to the Colorado Rapids as part of the trade that brought Pablo Mastroeni and Baggio Husidic to the Galaxy. In March 2013, the Galaxy sent a conditional draft pick, which became a third round selection, to the Philadelphia Union in exchange for forward Chandler Hoffman. Finally, in December 2010, the Galaxy sent their fourth round pick to the Houston Dynamo in order to move up in Stage 2 of the MLS Re-Entry Process.
Of the 29 players currently on the Galaxy roster, 10 were drafted by the club. In 2013, the Galaxy selected forward Charlie Rugg in the first round (19th overall) of the SuperDraft before taking defenders Kofi Opare (24th overall) and Greg Cochrane (38th overall) in the second round.
