This week’s L.A. Hidden Gem is also a Culver City surprise. So after you hit up The Museum of Jurassic Technology and are up for some drinks be sure to stop by The Blind Barber. This place is also a location that is not exactly what it seems. When you walk up to it, you find yourself at a barber shop. And yes during the day it does function as one but if you take the door in the end, you’ll find yourself in a good old-fashioned speakeasy.

The ambiance invokes the speakeasies of yore. It’s a lounge and on select nights a swanky club that the millennials in the area frequent. The music is a mix of modern and past favorites. It’s pretty packed on weekends. People go and nab booths to hang out, couples go on dates and many enjoy the DJ’s and dance the night away.

The drinks are made by fantastic mixologists and the menu itself is a treat. One of their most popular drinks is The Batman, a concoction of Hendrick’s Gin, St. Germain, Lemon Juice, Peychauds Bitters and Mint. And if you’re feeling a bit theatrical and up for a close shave of a drink there is the Sweeney Ted made from Jameson Irish Whiskey, Lemon Juice, Honey, Egg White and Creole Bitters. The fanciful drinks on the menu can be enjoyed with their selection of grilled cheeses which are a bit on the pricey side but very delicious.

For a place that is fun to lead friends on a surprise adventure to, the cost is quite worth it. So how ‘bout a shave?
