Catch Kalimba performing all the songs you love at Giggles Night Club June 26.

Mexican singer-songwriter Kalimba has arrived with his new Dinner for Breakfast USA tour, which marks the artist’s first official tour in this country and commemorates his 10 years as a solo artist.

At a recent press conference, Kalimba also announced that he is promoting his newest project, which is aptly named the same as his tour and is already enjoying quite the wave of popularity.

”For me, this is all wonderful. After 10 years, this is literally the first official tour I’ll be doing here in the states. This is a very important day for me, as it marks the start of something much bigger than I’ve ever done before.  It also shows that the album is being received well. Kalimba is not just me as a person – it’s the product of collaboration and hard work from many people – and I’m very grateful for that.”

The tour kicked off on June 5 in Santa Fe and eventually comes to San Diego June 25 before concluding in Los Angeles at Giggles Night Club June 26.

The album, Cena Para Desayunar (Dinner for Breakfast), is already considered one of the most important albums of 2014 in Latin America, and for this first half of 2015, has remained in the top 10 in sales both in stores and on digital platforms.

“This album has evoked a slew of emotions, and I feel that’s very important. This encompasses everything that’s going on with me both personally and professionally,” he says. “It’s the most honest album I’ve done. It’s based on forgiveness, love, misery and honesty.  It’s not just actions … sometimes you need to know how to ask for forgiveness.”

The album was composed and produced by Kalimba and Stefano Vieni, and fuses pop, rock, Latin rhythms and R&B. Amongst the most popular songs are “Juntos Caminando,” “Nada Puede Herirte” and “Este Frío.”

“It has everything. My first album had a lot of funk, the second had blues, the third was more rock/pop … then after a couple homage albums, I started thinking about what was missing, and what would encapsulate my career as a whole – not just as a solo artist but my years with OV7,” he says. “I’m not just a singer, I compose as well, and I want people to know that.”

Without a doubt, Kalimba is one of the more complete artists on the scene today. His style defined, he has amassed a legion of followers who constantly rank his work at the top.
