Helen Ficalora
There is no denying that Helen Ficalora’s signature designs “inspire beauty, love and peace.”
The pieces are made from resplendent yellow, pink and white gold with diamond accents that reflect an appreciation for nature and organic form. And this is specially true with the Mother’s Day items – which truly are must-haves and must-gives.
Unsurprisingly, Helen Ficalora is a favorite among celebrities for its refined and alluring qualities.
A native of Montauk, NY, Ficalora talks about her Mother’s Day collection, being a mom and more.
Living Out Loud: At this time of year for Mother’s Day, what items are a must-have from Helen Ficalora?
Helen Ficalora: We have a wide variety of Mom, Grandmother and Aunt charms with and without diamonds that are absolute must-haves. We also have our Birth Jewel charms and classic Alphabet Charms to represent each child, both of which are treasured pieces. This year I have also introduced a new sun collection for Mother’s Day which I think will be a huge hit.
LOL: And in terms of items from Helen Ficalora, what do you personally recommend for a mother this 2015?
HF: As a starter necklace the Mom charm with one diamond is great. Adding the children’s initials is a good next step. Then birthstone charms, a heart…
LOL: What makes these items special?
HF: They are solid gold and simply beautiful. They can be put together in a unique way that is meaningful for each person. Each necklace becomes an individual statement or signature.
LOL: Aside from the “obvious,” what does Mother’s Day mean to you?
HF: Mother’s day is a celebration of love. I love being a Mother – my best job and proudest accomplishment are my children.
LOL: What do you consider the major difference between a son/daughter and husband gifting jewelry to a mom?
HF: Children tend to gift something to mom that represents their love of their mother. Dad’s tend to give something to mom that is more sentimental.
LOL: Anything else to add?
HF: Mother’s day has an interesting history – it was started as a day of peace – during the Civil War two Mothers who had sons fighting against each other on opposite sides got together and requested a day of peace in honor of their Mothers.
