As summer lingers on in sunny Southern California, thinking about fall fashion trends may seem like we are overly excited to have some colder weather. Earlier this year Bryant Park in New York City saw the latest and greatest in fall 2014 fashion. Below I have listed my favorite fall fashion trends, hopefully someday soon we will be able bring out our parkas and light scarves and fully enjoy a pumpkin spiced latte.
Animal Prints – Ahh the classic leopard print is here to stay and as it should be. You should have a leopard staple piece in your wardrobe. For example, about 2 years ago, I walked into Nordstrom and saw the most gorgeous leopard Michael Kors trench coat, I had to have it. Go with something that is classic that has the print. A light scarf or well-tailored blazer will take you into the winter looking fabulous.
Menswear Inspired – So you ask why men’s wear? If you missed my previous column featuring Victoria Beckham, she is the prime example of why menswear will work for the fall. A crisp white button up with ankle slacks and a nice pair of black leather pumps will have you looking like a classic starlet. Make sure to add a pop of color with accessories to make it more feminine.
The Boyfriend Jean – Ready to relax? Then you’ll love this season’s easy, looser fitting apparel that looks like it’s been stolen from you boyfriend’s closet. Wear a pair of loose fitting ripped up jeans pair it with an oversized flannel. Pair this look with a solid color ballerina flat. This is a perfect on-the-run daytime look. If you want to dress it up a bit, wear a tank or a nice cotton V-neck and add a blazer or even an infinity scarf.
Ankle Boots – This is probably my favorite crossover fashion trend from this summer. So you wore ankle boots at Coachella but it’s time to wear these comfy shoes in fall too. Wear them with a legging, oversized chucky sweater, messy hair style and a pair of Ray-Ban aviators and your golden.
