En Vogue are set to give Angelenos something they can feel this Saturday at Saban Theatre.
Redefining the image of girl groups in the 1990s, popular act En Vogue fused R&B and pop to create hit music that, to this day, receives play and recognition.
Angelenos can catch En Vogue live on Saturday, May 23, at Saban Theatre. Show-goers are sure to enjoy music from the group whose career spans over 20 years.
Formed in Oakland, Calif., the ladies’ first album, Born to Sing, was released in 1990. However, it was in 1992 when they were launched into the mainstream with the release of their best-selling album, Funky Divas. The release debuted at No. 8 on the Billboard 200 and No. 1 on the Billboard R&B charts, where it went multi-platinum. The album featured the number-one singles “My Lovin’ (You’re Never Gonna Get It)” and “Giving Him Something He Can Feel.” Both singles peaked at No. 1 on the R&B charts.
In 1993, they were featured on Salt-N-Pepa’s top 10 song “Whatta Man.”
To date, En Vogue has sold over 20 million records worldwide. Along with their success in album sales, they were ranked one of the greatest musical groups of all time by Billboard magazine. Winning more MTV Video Music Awards than any other female group (seven), En Vogue has also won five Soul Train Awards, six American Music Awards and earned seven Grammy nominations.
Throughout the group’s history, there have been several lineup changes, and in 2008, the original members reunited once again for their En Vogue: 20th Anniversary Tour.
On Saturday, doors open at 6 p.m., and the opening act will be BJ Smith. Tickets retail for $38, $48, $58 and $75+.
The Saban Theatre is located at 8440 Wilshire Blvd., Beverly Hills.
