Remmy Valenzuela is part of Descarga del Corrido's stellar lineup taking the stage this Sunday.
On May 25 in San Bernardino, Descarga del Corrido unites regional Mexican music greats for the very first time. Acts include Remmy Valenzuela, Javier Rosas, Grupo 360, Los Nuevos Rebeldes and Los Hijos de Barron.
Many of these artists gather for a press conference at the Conga Room at L.A. Live to talk about this new event that is unique to its genre and will eventually reach large cities across the United States. Descarga del Corrido organizers share that the idea for the event came about during a friendly discussion at the Toro Huaco event.
When they saw this same lineup of five bands perform for a record crowd of 9,000, it was decided they would take the concept to a national audience.
The first stop is this May 25 show at San Bernardino’s Chino Fairgrounds. The artists involved are among the best in their genre, in terms of record sales and sold-out shows. Descarga del Corrido aims to set the precedent of uniting the most prevalent artists in one place. The audience is the real winner here, as fans get to enjoy all of the bands for the price of one ticket.
Each artist at the event is releasing a new record, and this tour gives them an opportunity to debut singles and other material.
Valenzuela, amongst the youngest in this star-studded group, shares what motivates him and how he feels about being a part of this project.
“I want to thank everyone who has supported this project. I feel all of us involved just wish to grow our careers – something we’ve all strived to do independently,” he says. “However, we know there’s strength in numbers, and we want to take advantage of our friendship to make this happen. Thank God we’ve all been friends for years, and we’ve each followed our own musical path. We also want to thank the organizers of the event for getting us all together. We know it will be a great success.”
Valenzuela also reiterated that, despite the name, corridos is not all the audience will hear; there is going to be music for all tastes. The single from his new album, Me Toco Perder, is due June 24, and it’s one that he composed himself.
All of the artists promise lots of surprises at the event, yet none would discuss many details about logistics. They did say that all the egos are checked at the door when discussing who would open and who would close. According to the talent, it doesn’t matter since they are all amongst friends. They also didn’t disclose much about duets, but they did state that with it’s all up in the air, and that anything is possible.
Something they all elaborate on is how much they love what they do and that music is their life. This is why their fans do anything to see them and why they perform whatever their fans desire.
This showcase promises to be a resounding success in introducing fans to the next generation of this genre’s superstars. All of the dates and venues for the tour are yet to be revealed. All we know for sure is that the first show will take place this Sunday.
