On Thursday, July 10 fans were lined up and waiting to enjoy “5 Towers” on Universal CityWalk’s kick off of its free summer concert series with Danity Kane and Moxie Raia.
The outdoor venue in the center of CityWalk has hosted a multitude of performances by some of today’s most influential artists, including Jason DeRulo, CeeLo Green, John Legend, Justin Bieber, Carly Rae Jepson, Ludacris, Tyrese Gibson, Wiz Khalifa, 2 Chainz and Good Charlotte. Universal CityWalk is Southern California’s ultimate summer destination for free, live entertainment as the “5 Towers” stage heats up with an array of musical performances and dance nights every Thursday, Saturday and Sunday through Aug. 31.
The opening act for this entertaining launch show was Moxie Raia, a young, edgy, up-and-coming artist that is really creating a name for herself. She delighted the crowd by performing her new hit single “Buffalo Bill” on the “5 Towers” stage. This track has been generating big buzz and has even been remixed by EDM master Tiësto. Raia’s first album is set to debut later this year, and with her experience as being a songwriter who has written for artists like Lil Wayne and Shakira, this album is sure to delight fans.
The main event and reason for such a strong turnout at Universal’s “5 Towers” was for multi-platinum, chart-topping girl group Danity Kane. The women of DK3, as they are now calling themselves, took the stage at about 8:45 p.m. and immediately had fans pumped and dancing to their songs. They entertained their fans with great choreography and even a special number where they brought a fan up to perform with them on stage. Their set was a show stopper with plenty of old and new songs, like their recently released single, “Lemonade,” which features Tyga.
The members of Danity Kane – Aubrey O’Day, Shannon Bex and Dawn Richard – definitely had pulses racing with their very visually appealing, bondage-style outfits and raunchy show. This group of ladies’ goal as they are now emerging as DK3 is to be more unfiltered, and I think their look, performance and music were all speaking loudly at this concert.
