D’Angelo to Perform at Hollywood Bowl on James Brown Tribute Concert

R&B singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist D’Angelo will perform at the Hollywood Bowl on Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at 8 p.m. as part of “Get On Up: A James Brown Celebration.” It was announced today.

The concert, part of the Jazz at the Bowl series, pays homage to James Brown, the Grammy-winning Godfather of Soul.

Previously announced artists for the evening include musical director Christian McBride, the James Brown Alumni Band featuring Pee Wee Ellis, Fred Wesley, Jab’o Starks, Clyde Stubblefield and Danny Ray, and special guests including Aloe Blacc, Angélique Kidjo and Bettye LaVette.
