Cloud Gate Dance Theatre’s Rice transports you to the rice paddies of Taiwan.
Cloud Gate Dance Theatre of Taiwan brings its famed performances to Southern California for the premiere of Rice at the Music Center’s Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in Downtown. Founded by Lin Hwai-min, Cloud Gate has performed in Europe, Asia, North America and South America
Transporting audiences to Taiwan and depicting the cycle of life using rice paddies, this program captures the cultivation of the process and struggle faced in the ever-changing landscape. Those in attendance are not only going to feel like they are in Taiwan but out on the fields as well.
Using video images of the rice paddies and the landscape, the burning of fields and other visuals, Rice is not just a visually appealing piece, but also a learning opportunity.
Audiences can attend the premiere tonight at 7:30 p.m. Performances also take place on Jan. 30 and 31. Tickets range from $34-$125 and can be purchased at musiccenter.org.
