The Los Angeles Clippers signed forward Glen Davis Monday, and announced Davis has been issued uniform number 12 and will be ready to play for tonight’s game against the New Orleans Pelicans.

Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Davis, 28, reached a buyout with the Orlando Magic on Friday and was waived. He averged 12.1 points and 6.3 rebounds in 45 games this season, and was making $6 million this season and was due to make about $6.6 million next season.

Davis played under coach Doc Rivers with the Boston Celtics from 2007-2011 and the two won a championship together in 2008.

The Clippers had only 12 players in their roster after offloading veterans Antawn Jamison and Byron Mullens at the trade deadline, and after deciding not to extend Sasha Vujacic beyond a ten-day contract.

Davis not only brings a championship pedigree to a roster devoid of championship-level experience, he’ll also help as an able defender against other Western Conference bigs down the stretch.
