Visit Pandora via Cirque du Soleil’s Toruk – The First Flight this November. (Errisson Lawrence/Cirque du Soleil)
Whenever you come across James Cameron’s Avatar playing on TV, you have to sit and watch it regardless of the number of times you’ve already seen it. Whenever a Cirque du Soleil production is announced to come to Southern California, you’re the first one in line for opening night – and perhaps for several other nights throughout the course of its run. Do both of these circumstances apply to you? Well, brace yourself, because Cirque du Soleil has just the show for you.
Toruk – The First Flight, inspired by Avatar, is Cirque du Soleil’s new touring production, and tickets for its presentation at Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario Nov. 2 through 6 and Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles Nov. 11 through 13 go on sale to Cirque Club members today (The public on-sale begins July 15). The show transports viewers to Pandora through the cutting-edge visuals, puppetry and stagecraft that Cirque du Soleil is known for, under the direction of Michel Lemieux and Victor Pilon.
Narrated by a Na’vi storyteller, the tale takes place thousands of years before the events depicted in Cameron’s film. When a natural disaster threatens the Tree of Souls, two boys fearlessly decide to take matters into their own hands. When they learn that the majestic flying Toruk might help them save the tree, they embark on a quest high up the Floating Mountains to see if one can ride Toruk for the first time and save the Na’vi.
If you’re a fan of the film but have never been to a Cirque du Soleil show, please don’t miss Toruk – The First Flight. It’s sure to be a breathtaking show.
