Come 2014, could Carmelo Anthony be in a Lakers' uniform? (Facebook/New York Knicks)

It’s no secret that Carmelo Anthony is one of the top free agents that the Los Angeles Lakers will pursue during next summer’s free agency.

But just like Paul George, who will also be a free agent next summer, Anthony said that being a Laker next season is doubtful.

Anthony was recently in Los Angeles when a TMZ reporter asked, if he see’s himself wearing the “purple and gold.”

“I doubt it,” Carmelo replied.

But doubt can technically mean there’s a 50-50 chance, right? Look at Steve Nash. He was in a similar situation in 2012 when he stated that he would never wear the purple and gold due to the competitive rivalry between him and Kobe Bryant.

However, Mitch Kupchak was able to pull some strings that enabled Nash and Kobe to play together.

Regardless, the 2013-2014 season has yet to start and free agency is a year away. As of now, everything remains a rumor and ambiguous. We’ll just have to wait and see how it plays out.
