Sixteen-year-old singer-songwriter and musician Cailee Rae releases an EP June 17.
The experiences and emotions you endure growing up make you wonder if anyone else is going through the same thing. Sixteen-year-old YouTube sensation Cailee Rae has made herself known to the online world with her strong vocals and her take on today’s top hits. Rae is now taking center stage as she releases an EP June 17.
As a young dedicated musician, Rae is involved in all aspects of the creative process. When writing her own music, she draws inspiration from everything she sees and hears in her everyday life. She loves to be able to put her own original stamp on the music she creates, as evidenced both in her covers of popular songs and in her own original music.
In an exclusive interview with Living Out Loud – Los Angeles, she chats about social media and the influence behind her upcoming EP.
Rae tells us that her love for music started at an early age as a hobby that later turned into a form of expression as she encountered the struggles of growing up.
“I was really inspired when I was younger, I had a hard time fitting in, and it was hard to find a hobby or something that I liked to express myself,” she shares. “I just got a guitar and taught myself through YouTube and started writing songs about everything. I found inspiration through my days of growing up.”
At such a young age, Rae has proven to be a force to be reckoned with. With half a million followers on Instagram, she’s able to reach out to her fans with 30-second cover songs. When asked about her huge social media following, Rae admits that she never saw it coming.
“I honestly wasn’t all about social media. I was kind of messing around, and I had fun making a bunch of videos,” she explains. “It took off on its own. I like making cover songs my own, and the fact that I challenged myself to film for 30 seconds was really intriguing to me.”
Rae discusses that her upcoming EP is a reflection of the emotions that she’s faced growing up.
“We make it seem that it’s not OK to feel sad and it’s not OK to feel alone, but sometimes it’s OK to feel that way and to embrace these emotions,” explains Rae. “I really wanted my EP to reflect that journey that everyone goes through.”
Her newest single, “Anchor,” has proven to show that nothing should tie you down.
Rae is expected to start touring by the end of this year.
With her star charisma and youthful soul, there’s no doubt that Cailee Rae will want to make everyone embrace life. We are excited to see what’s in store for her, and we’ll be the first ones to buy her EP when it drops on June 17.
