The Colombian group that has captured the ears and hearts of critics and fans from around the world, led by the incredible singer, Liliana Saumet and multi-instrumentalist Simon Mejia, is set to put the finishing touches on their latest release in Los Angeles at the end of the month. For this studio session, they will continue to work with famed producer, Ricky Reed, of the Oakland hip hop group Wallpaper.
“Everything just happened without thinking really. Liliana has Colombian-Caribbean coastal melody in her blood, Julian comes from the mountains blending highlife guitar and electro and Simon is a rhythmic genius from the nations capital Bogota. And I grew up on rap records in Oakland, California. Just mix the ingredients and this is what you get. It’s true Pan-American sound,” Reed says in reference of his work with Bomba Estéreo.
Throughout March, Bomba Estéreo will be promoting their new single internationally, with performances at two important festivals: on March 13th at Vive Latino, which is one of the largest music festivals in Mexico and Latin America and at SXSW in Austin, Texas, where they will be part of the following showcases: Radio Day Stage with Radiónica (March 18), Pop Montreal Showcase (Win Butler) (March 19), and SBS Showcase (March 20).
On Saturday March 21st, they will be part of the line-up at the All-Latino Auditorium Shores Showcase, where they will share the stage with Intocable and Compass – the collaboration between Mexican Institute of Sound and DJ Toy Selectah. The event is open to the public.
The Colombian band is no stranger to performing around the world in the biggest arenas. During the last years, they have been touring around four continents, where they performed at key festivals such as Roskilde, Coachella, Austin City Limits, Lollapalooza, Outside Lands, Vive Latino, Estereopicnic, Rock Al Parque, and Glastonbury, among others.
