Having a bikini body is the Holy Grail for some women but for others having a bikini body means they can experiment with trends, colors, and textures when catching some rays or sitting pool side with friends and a nice refreshing drink.
Although the bikini doesn’t follow normal fashion trends or seasons for that matter, colors and textures are taken from regular fashion wardrobes. Take, for example, the fringe or crocheted look. It’s hard for designers to reinvent the bikini or the monokini with the need to balance functionality and sex appeal. They are limited to what they can actually do. Despite this, one piece and bikini trends are certainly still influenced by our regular everyday fashion.
When it comes to choosing a bikini, these are the styles worth looking out for.
Vintage Inspired Swimwear – Think pin-up girl with a modern twist, so instead of something black, white or red, think of mint, purples and geometric patterns. Keep the high-waisted bottoms but add a bandeau strapless top or a halter. The important thing is to keep the same vintage silhouette.
Mismatched bikinis – If you don’t want to go for all-out clashes pick up a great classic black bikini and mix in either the top or the bottom with a really bold color like a lime green or an electric yellow.
Feminine Frills – Delicate white and pastels or colorful micro prints make for extremely popular choices when it comes to bikinis. Ruffled busts and fringe are a good way to add a boho chic to your feminine style bikini.
Cut-Away Bikinis – In recent years the monokini set new trends, making bikinis a lot more interesting. These are best for beach party occasions not so much swimming laps in your pool. You can pair these with a caftan and a flat sandal. Just remember some cut-away bikinis are more forgiving than others so choose wisely.
