The Art Institute of California – Hollywood, located in North Hollywood, had their quarterly portfolio show on March 28th at the Pickwick Gardens ballroom in Burbank.
The show features the students who have finished their associate or bachelor degree and gives them a chance to show off all their best work completed at AI. It’s also the perfect opportunity for students to hand out their freshly printed business cards.
A path is created in the ballroom for family members, faculty, and future clients to walk through. Starting with the digital photography major, you are able to flip through students’ portfolios and grasp the unique style each student has developed over their 2-4 year journey.
The path then turns into graphic design students who showcase the aesthetically pleasing logos, advertisements and websites they’ve created. Then you’ll come across the elaborately detailed interior design booths, which are followed by the game art design students who have began some impressive character building. The last portion of this room is hard working video production and editing students. The amount of effort these students put into their booths is underrated.
The fashion department has a whole room dedicated to their marketing, merchandising and design students. It’s almost surreal walking into a room of 20 young adults, all who will be taking over the Los Angeles fashion industry.
A portfolio show is held every 12 weeks. I would highly recommend attending, and I specially direct this to those who appreciate the arts or enjoy supporting young Hollywood. Not to mention treats are handed out as you walk – appetizers are floating and there is a full bar!
Admission is free.
