Dutch music producer and DJ Armin van Buuren, highly known for playing progressive trance and uplifting trance, has been actively influencing the music industry since 1995. With catchy beats and remarkably engaging stage presence, the Grammy-winning DJ has been topping the charts for decades.

Van Buuren has been named #1 in DJ Magazine’s Top 100 DJs fan poll for a record of five times, including an unprecedented four consecutive years 2007-2010 and again in 2012.

In 2013, he was nominated for a “Best Dance Recording” Grammy for his single “This Is What It Feels Like,” which made him the fourth trance artist to ever receive a Grammy nomination along with Tiesto, BT, and Paul van Dyk.

Since 2001, he has proudly hosted a weekly radio show called “A State of Trance,” which has over 20 million weekly listeners in over 26 different countries, excluding online listeners. The show propelled van Buuren to fame and garnered an immense amount of fan followings from around the world.

In 1995, a 19-year-old inspired van Buuren had his first initial success with a song titled, “Blue Fear,” which was released under Cyber Records label. Produced in the euro-trance mold, this track made it onto the UK Chart. “Communication,” another successful track, was released under the same label as “Blue Fear” and became popular in Ibiza, Spain in the summer of 1999.

Van Buuren kicked off his explosive DJ career at Club Nexus in Lieden, where he learned to play extensive DJ sets ranging from six to seven hours in length. During school holidays, the prodigy played more than four times a week. In early 1999, van Buuren started his label Armind together with United Recordings.

By 2000, the eccentric van Buuren started his own Armin van Buuren compilation series that balanced between progressive house and vocal trance music styles and themes. In 2002, he had finally established a residence in Washington D.C. and played North American shows in major cities including San Francisco, Vancouver, Seattle, Atlanta, Chicago, Boston, and more.

His fan base continued to grow greatly after unique shows at a plethora of venues, including a stellar collaboration with his brother, guitarist Eller van Buuren, which took place at the electronic music festival Together As One in Los Angeles on New Year’s Eve 2009.

Fast forward to 2010, after several more albums established a continuous incline of popularity around the globe, van Buuren achieved awards ranging from the Buma Cultuur Pop Award, the most prestigious Dutch music award to a Golden Harp for his musical work and contribution to Dutch music by BUMA/STEMRA at the 2010 Buma Harpen Gala. In June of 2010, van Buuren’s fourth studio album, Mirage, was due to be released in mid-September. The first single, “Full Focus,” was released through iTunes Store on June 24 at midnight and peaked at number 60 in the Netherlands.

In October 2010, van Buuren won the award for Most Popular International DJ presented by The Golden Gnomes and continued his legacy as the chart-topping #1 DJ.

To celebrate the 550th episode of “A State of Trance,” he performed with various artists on 2 different continents during 4 weeks. The show was called “A State of Trance 550: Invasion.” The first event was celebrated at Ministry of Sound in London, England on March, 1 2012. Shows in Moscow, Los Angeles, Miami and Den Bosch followed.

On March 2013, Van Buuren announced that his fifth studio album, Intense, was due to be released on May 3, 2013. On October 19, 2013, van Buuren ranked No. 2 on DJ Mag‘s top 100 DJs poll, which proves the loyalty of his fans has yet to subside after so many years under the EDM spotlight.

This year, he has earned International Dance Music Award nominations for Best Trance Track, Best Compilation or Full Length DJ Mix, Best Global DJ, Best Trance DJ, Best Podcast or Radio Mixshow DJ, Best Artist (Solo), Best Featured Vocalist Performance, Best Music Video, and Best Producer. Van Buuren got a Grammy nomination for “This Is What It Feels Like,” a Juno Award nomination for “This Is What It Feels Like,” and an Edison Pop Award nomination for his album, Intense.

Van Buuren’s current project is his “Armin Only: Intense” tour. His stop in Los Angeles will be Friday May 9 at 7 p.m. at the newly-rennovated Forum of Inglewood. The award-winning electronic music producer and global superstar will revolve these tour sets around his latest full-length album, Intense, that saw its global release on May 3. It also landed in the top 25 on the Billboard US Dance/Electronic Albums chart.

The creative envision of the tour is backed by famous theatre director Jos Thie and creative mind Sander Reneman (owner 250K). The team has produced a groundbreaking EDM experience that consists of an aesthetically pleasing and visually-arresting technical effects and stunning live performances that will leave fans in attendance out of breath.

“The basis of Armin Only will always be a DJ set,” says Armin. “But to make things more interesting, I’m going to try and make the love moments as you would witness them in a theatre! I can’t wait ti bring this show to all the fans around the world.”
