Coming to the U.S. for the first time is the two day action sports event known as Air + Style which combines live musical performances and 32 of the worlds best snowboarders and free skiers competing on a 16-story, 450-foot long snow jump.
Hosted by professional two-time Olympic gold medalist, snowboarder and skateboarder, Shaun White, the all ages event will take place in the Rose Bowl on Feb. 21 and 22. It will feature three concert stages, food trucks, ‘kidz camp,’ gaming tents and a sponsor village.
Air + Style was founded by Andrew Hourmont in 1993 and was the first Big Air snowboarding competition of its kind. Since then, 27 editions of the competition have been held Austria, China and Germany.
On the first day, gates will open at 11 a.m. and the event hours will be from noon to 10:30 p.m. On this day, the snowboarding big air jump will take place featuring 16 of the world’s greatest snowboarders like 2014 Snowboard Slopestyle Olympic gold medalist: Sage Kotsenburg, Olympic bronze medalist: Mark McMorris, Olympians: Maxence Parrot, and Sven Thorgen, X Games stars: Torstein Horgmo, Kim Rune Hansen, and Antoine Truchon, and Innsbruck 2015 winner: Stale Sandbech.
You can catch performances by Kendrick Lamar, Diplo, Phantogram, Portugal. The Man, and Bad Things on the main stage. On the second stage will be Black Lips and Metz.
Day two will consist of the skiing big air jump competition featuring Olympic gold medalist: Joss Christensen and Olympians: Bobby Brown, Gus Kenworfthy, Vincent Gagnier, Jesper Tjader, Alex Beaulieu-Marchand, Henrik Harlaut, Kai Mahler, Jossi Wells. Alex Schlopy, and Tom Wallisch.
Hitting the main stage will be Steve Aoki, Flaming Lips, Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros, and Deap Vally. On the second stage you’ll find Sleigh Bells, Cults, and Surfer Blood. The events end at 9:30 p.m.
In order to bring snow to Pasadena, a total of 160,000 gallons of water will be used to create the snow off-site by Arctic Glacier of Vernon, CA. Mindful of the current drought, the melted ice will be redistributed back into the Arroyo-Seco water table through natural run-off as well as being hand-moved to irrigate the Rose Bowl green-scape.
General admission tickets for a 1-day pass are $50 per person. General admission 2-day passes are $90 per person. Premium package passes include VIP viewing with access to the ramp view, stage view, food and beverage passes. The 2-day pass is $495 for two people while the 1-day pass is $325 for two people.
VIP package includes the Premium Package plus a private meet and greet with Shaun White and other athletes. The two day pass is $750 for two people and the one day pass is $425 for two people. It should be noted, children age 10 and under enter free with paid adult (maximum two kids per adult ticket).
