It’s always nerve wrecking going on the first date. You ask yourself what you should wear, what you should talk about, and how to try not to make a fool out of yourself.

When going on a first date, there’s always a goal: To try and get a second one. But in order to do that you have to make sure that you’re doing all the right things.

Here are 4 ways to have a successful first date:

Be a Gentleman
In this generation it’s hard to find men that still open doors for females and/or take them to a really fancy first date location. Make sure that you take her to nice place to make a first impression. Open doors for her and pull out her chair if you decide to take her to a restaurant. Women fall for this stuff. They love it. She will notice the little things: The location of where you take her and the gesture you make.

Compliment Her
It’s only obvious that she will make an effort to look extra nice on your first date. Make sure to give her a compliment on what she’s wearing or how pretty she looks. Many men on the first date will actually think of many compliments in their head but won’t say them out loud. Gentlemen, don’t be afraid to compliment her because more than likely she’s hoping you will.

Body Language
Body language speaks volumes. Eye contact, laughing, flirting, and touching are all positive signs that she’s feeling you. Make sure that you take advantage of this. When she’s making deep eye contact say something nice. When she’s laughing compliment her on her smile and she will flirt back. Eventually at the end of the night she will likely be hugging you and if you get lucky you might get a first date kiss.

Chemistry
The number one thing during a date is the flow. Yes, sometimes you might be in an awkward silence, but you will notice that it won’t be an awkward silence for too long. Usually if your date is interested in you he/she will find a way to make conversation. If you think about it, when someone is intrigued they will naturally be curious about you; your likes, dislikes, hobbies, work…etc. You can always be physically attracted to someone but it will all mean nothing if the chemistry is not there.
