This year’s Calibash, one of the most anticipated urban music concerts of the year, will take place on Saturday, January 24 at a sold-out Staples Center in Los Angeles.
On Wednesday, Jan. 21 Artists and organizers of the event held a press conference, including 3BallMTY and Becky G., who is the only female artists this year.
Lucas Pina, Senior VP of SBS Entertainment, spoke about what to expect from this year’s show.
“It will be a historic day because for the 8th time, Mega entertainment will bring together Latin music’s biggest stars in a massive and innovative gathering. As the saying goes, this is the mother of all concerts – Calibash 2015,” says Pina.
Every year, Calibash always features many surprises, and this year will be no exception. The event has become known for their use of the latest technology to create impressive, dynamic stages and light shows, as well as sound of the highest quality.
The line-up for this year’s event includes Carlos Vives, Pitbull, Don Omar, Tego Calderon, Maluma, Becky G., 3BALLMITY, J Alvarez, Wisin, Plan B, Farruko, and Gente de Zona. With this line-up, there’s bound to be something for everyone.
3BallLMTY frontman Alberto Presenda spoke about the band’s participation in this year’s event.
“We feel very happy. Many people ask us to feel at home, but we already do. However, participating in an event such as this one does bring with it a lot of responsibility because year after year, it continues to feature very high profile artists like Pitbull and Don Omar,” he says.
“Also, since it went so well for us last year, we have to make sure we at least match that success this year. We’ll be playing our hearts out this year, and we’ve invested a lot of preparation into the set we’ll be doing for Calibash 2015.”
Over 100,000 people have attended Calibash events over the years, and it represents the most important venue for urban music for thousands of millennials. SBS Entertainment, AEG Live and Mega 96.3FM will once again produce the event.
The day of the concert will also host the Official Calibash Pre-Fest Brand Garden, which is an open-air party by Staples Center and will feature live music, food, games, and demo booths by the events’ sponsors.
