Some of Latin music’s top Regional Mexican artists will take the stage at the 2015 Billboard Latin Conference as part of the new “Mexican Millennials” panel on April 29, 2015 at the Ritz-Carlton Miami Beach.
Featured on the panel will be Kevin Ortiz who will be joined by fellow regional superstars, Eden Muñoz of Calibre 50, Luis Coronel, Jorge Valenzuela, and Remmy Valenzuela; it was announced March 11, 2015.
This will be one of the first panels of it’s kind at the 2015 Billboard Latin Conference which will focus on the genre’s influence and success while shining a spotlight on some of regional-Mexican’s young stars who are impacting the way this genre is seen and heard in the new millennium.
“This is the first time in which a panel unites the youngest and most successful artists of a new movement in regional-Mexican music. It’s truly historical to have these names together, representing a new and exciting moment in music,” explains Leila Cobo, Billboard Executive Director of Latin programing and content.
The younger brother of singer-songwriter Gerardo Ortiz, Kevin Ortiz sings norteño banda — but he sings directly to the girls, complete with pop choreography. In 2013, the Pasadena, Calif.-born teen’s debut, Con la Misma Sangre, reached No. 1 on the Regional Mexican Albums chart. His hard work and dedication earned him a finalist slot for Debut Artist of the Year at the 2015 Billboard Latin Music Awards.
The genre’s undeniable new teen heartthrob, Luis Coronel is leaving his mark in traditional regional Mexican banda music. Debuting at No. 1 on the Top Latin Albums chart this past October with Quiero Ser Tu Dueno on Del/Empire. His good looks, coupled with a rabid following among Latin teens (2.7 million Facebook likes), makes him one of the genre’s top young acts. He was also named one of Billboard’s 21 Under 21.
The Billboard Latin Music Conference culminates with the Billboard Latin Music Awards, airing live on Telemundo April 30. To register for the Billboard Latin Music conference, visit www.BillboardLatinConference.com.
